  Carry-Out Specials
  These special offers are so competitively priced that I will need to pick up your computer and take it to my shop to work on it. I'll return it when it's done. I do this because these services tend to be particularly time-consuming. Unless noted below, these services do not include training or instruction.
   
  $30 - Data Wipe & Transfer Prep: Planning to donate or sell your old computer? Make sure that you remove any personal information first! Don't rely on the Recycle Bin to clear your personal information from your computer -- with only a little effort, someone can find personal information on your old computer that you thought you'd removed. I will employ industrial-strength software to permanently and securely wipe any data from your old computer. Results are guaranteed effective. As a bonus, I will also test the computer for defects (CPU, memory, hard drive, optical drives, floppy drive), physically clean out the interior of the computer, clean up the exterior, and provide a professional cost appraisal if desired. This offer is for home/home office clients only.
   
  $50 - HerrickTech Antivirus Special: Are you in need of virus removal or ongoing virus protection? How about both? For $50, I will perform a full virus scan of your computer, remove any viruses found, and install an antivirus product. Please note: The service does not include restoring Windows, other programs, or data which has already been damaged by a virus. Please contact me for details. This offer is for home/home office clients only.
   
 

$200 - Windows Vista to XP migration: Vista got your down? This new version of Windows comes with quite a few headaches and incompatibilities. Let me help you transition your new computer to the Windows XP that you know and love. I will perform a new install of Windows XP Home Edition. The cost of this service includes the Windows XP license, so no additional purchase is necessary! Your system must meet system requirements. This offer is for home/home office clients only. (Windows XP Home Edition is not recommended for computers on a network. Windows XP Professional Edition upgrade is available for an extra $50.)

$200 - Windows Vista to Ubuntu Linux migration: Same as above, but I will use Ubuntu Linux in place of Windows XP.

   
 

$200 - Windows XP Upgrade: I will upgrade your computer to OR perform a new install of Windows XP Home Edition. The cost of this service includes the Windows XP license, so no additional purchase is necessary! Your system must meet minimum system requirements. This offer is for home/home office clients only. (Windows XP Home Edition is not recommended for computers on a network. Windows XP Professional Edition upgrade is available for an extra $50.)

$150 - HerrickTech Windows Refresh: For computer systems that are especially bogged down by Windows, I will refresh (reload) it for you. Save yourself the hassle of transferring your data and wrestling your peripherals into working with Windows. As a bonus, I will install your programs for which you supply the installation CD! (Up to 3 software packages. For licensed products, a valid license is required.) I will also back up your original data to DVD media, which you may keep (up to 3 DVDs included at no charge). This offer is for home/home office clients only.
   
  Other Specials and Services
  For these services, I will travel to you and perform the work at your site. Unless noted below, these services do not include training or instruction.
   
  $75 - HerrickTech System Tune-Up: I will travel to you, examine your computer system, apply Windows critical updates, ensure your antivirus program is current, perform an Internet security audit, and physically clean your system*. After the service, you will receive a full report on your system. This offer is for home/home office clients only.
   
  $100 - DVD Burner Upgrade: Feeling left out of the technology curve? If you've been meaning to upgrade to a DVD burner, there's no better time than now! The $100 fee includes one DVD burner, DVD/CD mastering software, and the installation of the DVD burner and software at your site!
   
  $100 - HerrickTech LAN Setup: Are you feeling the need to network? For $100, I will configure up to 3 computers on an existing or new LAN (local area network). Please note, a broadband (DSL or cable) modem will count as one computer for this special. The special includes one short (15' or less) network cable per computer, but no other hardware (you may need to purchase a hub).
   
  $50 - New Software Install: You've already purchased the software, but don't want to deal with the complexities or tedium of the install process. I can help! For $50, I will install (and provide limited configuration for) up to three software programs. You must have purchased these programs and have the CDs for me to use. I will also be happy to install free, "shareware", or no-cost software. (I'll even download it for you!)
   
 

$50 - New Hardware Install: You've purchased that nice new all-in-one fax/scanner/copier, now what? Let me install it for you! For $50, I will install (and provide limited configuration for) up to two hardware items. You must have purchased these items and any necessary cables and have them available for me to use. I will be happy to obtain the drivers and other necessary (no-cost) software required to use your hardware. Examples of frequently-used hardware for this service includes scanners, printers, digital cameras, webcams, external drives, laptop docking stations, and many more. I can obtain the necessary cables for you for an extra cost. (Please note that many scanners and printers are packaged without the necessary cables, and that you need to buy them separately. Read the fine print on the box.)

   
  $20 - Off-Site Data Storage: Especially for home business clients: Backups are essential! For $20 per month, I will receive a copy of your backup data on your backup media, and I will store it in a fireproof, theft-secure site. Your data is guaranteed to be available to you within 24 hours. (Only one backup set is retained, and will be returned/reused at the next backup.) Backup media (tape, CD, hard drive, or other) is provided by the client.
   
  $100 - Off-Site Data Backup & Storage: Especially for home business clients: Backups are essential! (But who wants to do them?) For $100 per month, I will come to your site, perform a full backup of all the data you specify. I will then take the backup media with me and store it in a fireproof, theft-secure site. Your data is guaranteed to be available to you within 24 hours. (Only one backup set is retained, and will be reused at the next backup.) Backup media (tape, CD, hard drive, or other) may be provided by the client; if not, I will use my choice of backup media. This service includes up to 80 gigabytes of data. Data storage in excess of 80 GB is $50 per 20GB. This fee and service are monthly, however, more frequent backup plans are available if desired.
   
  Other Services not on this list:
  On-Site Labor: $68 / hour
  Bench (My Site) Labor: $52 / hour
 

Labor is billed in quarter hour increments and has a one hour minimum. There are no pickup or delivery fees for items serviced under bench labor. Unlike some others, I do not bill my travel time to you; only time spent at your site or working on your project is billed. This applies to my local service area only (Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland and Windsor). For service outside my local area, I may charge a travel fee.

 

 

 
  Terms and Conditions of Service
  I provide on-site, telephone, and e-mail support for an hourly fee. E-mail support is billed at a reduced rate; of course, results cannot be guaranteed with e-mail support. Please contact me for current rates.
  For on-site support, there is a 1 hour minimum service charge. Travel time in my local area (Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Windsor) is not charged. Billing is in quarter-hour increments.
  For telephone support, there is a 5 minute minimum service charge. Preferably, current customers only will use telephone support. Results cannot be guaranteed otherwise.
  For materials and hardware that I resell to you, I charge a +15% fee. Since I buy from wholesale outlets, this often works to your advantage, since you will still receive merchandise at a more reduced cost than retail. In many cases, there is no additional charge for hardware installation.
  Physical networking (installing network cable or network ports, for example) is normally billed at a flat fee per network port, not hourly.
  I provide a limited warranty for all my work. Labor is fully warranted for 30 days as long as no additional modifications are made by another entity. That is, if someone aside from myself alters a computer system (examples of which include installing programs, changing network settings, physically moving the computer) after I work on it, the labor warranty may be void. Hardware and materials warranty is limited to the manufacturer's warranty in each case, excepting new systems purchased from me.
  I am not responsible nor liable for lost data on systems I am contracted to repair. Please back up your data before having myself or anyone else work on your system.
  Cleaning a computer system includes opening up the case and blowing the dust out; wiping down the exterior of the case, keyboard, and mouse; cleaning the floppy drive; and cleaning the optical (CD/DVD-ROM) drives.
